One such instance is adhesive tape.
Therefore, we have compiled our top four unusual tape applications in sports of which some may surprise you!

Football
Strapping your socks and cleats, isn’t necessarily a new concept in football, but many fans don’t understand why it’s done. Well, we are going to reveal the two main reasons. Tape are used to help the players reducing the risk of injuries during the game but also to improve their mobility. Indeed, strapping help to keep your shin guards in position and stop socks from falling down, no matter how hard you play.
So, what kind of tape should you use? Most of amateur and professional footballers are using electrical tape to keep their socks up throughout the match in complete comfort. It’s very easy to put on and take off by yourself, without the need for scissors.

Hockey equipment
Apparently, footballers were not the only ones to use tape.
Have you ever played hockey? If so you know that there are two strategic points on the hockey stick which should be strapped with a tape: the handle and the blade. This was particularly true in the mid-1920 as the equipment was exclusively made of wood. But, whether a player’s blade is wood or not, they still have good reason to tape it.
Strapping the handle also makes the stick easier to use, it doesn’t rub off the hands or gloves. The tape on the blade is used to protect the surface and edges from damage, extending the life of their equipment, however it also allows to strike the puck with more precision.

Indoor Sport Court
We’ve all walked into an indoor sport hall and seen that mess of lines on the floor, all of different colours. It might be a bit confusing to see them all together but sport floors comply to strict regulations in terms of dimensions defined for example in the Sport England Guidelines.
Using a PVC tape for court markings does make perfect sense, especially if you’re a fan of sports like basketball or badminton, where staying between the lines is essential, but we bet you had never thought about it before!

Motorsport
Do you know that tape also plays an important role in motorsport? Ideal for health and safety purposes, quick fixes and repairs or to add decorative elements to a racing car, tape is that essential that you can never do without in motor racing.
In order to achieve a consistent message across rallying in the UK, for example, a strong cloth tape could be used to define “No Go” or “Spectator viewing” areas or exit points in different colours. The tape is also critical to indicate the route and alternative route to consider in case of an issue.
As you see there quite a few reasons why tapes are useful for sport people and sport facilities.
