Football

This was particularly true in the mid-1920 as the equipment was exclusively made of wood. But, whether a player’s blade is wood or not, they still have good reason to tape it.

Strapping the handle also makes the stick easier to use, it doesn’t rub off the hands or gloves.  The tape on the blade is used to protect the surface and edges from damage, extending the life of their equipment, however it also allows to strike the puck with more precision.
